Maintaining and Cleaning Your Pool Lounge Chairs

Sun and clear water are just the beginning of poolside comfort. The furniture you relax on plays a big part too. Whether you’re sunbathing, reading, or simply unwinding, your pool lounge chairs need to stay clean, strong, and ready to use.

With regular care, they can keep their look and feel for many seasons.

Start With Regular Rinsing:

Pool chairs are exposed to sun, water, and dust almost every day. One of the easiest ways to care for them is by rinsing them off with a hose every few days. This removes dirt, leaves, sunscreen, and chlorine. Even a quick rinse helps stop buildup that can stain or damage the surface over time.

If the chairs are near saltwater or a beach-style pool, rinsing becomes even more helpful, as salt can wear down both fabric and metal frames if left too long.

Use Mild Soap for Deeper Cleaning:

Every few weeks, or after heavy use, your chairs need more than just water. A soft cloth or sponge with warm soapy water works well for most materials. Gently scrub the surfaces, especially spots with stains or marks. Stay away from harsh chemicals or rough brushes, as they can scratch or fade the material.

For mesh or fabric areas, you can use a soft brush to lift dirt without tearing the weave. Always rinse again with clean water to remove soap residue.

Protect Metal and Wood Frames:

If your pool lounge chairs have metal parts, check them now and then for signs of rust or discoloration. A light coat of protective spray can help stop rust from forming. For wooden frames, wiping them with a dry cloth after cleaning helps keep the wood from soaking in too much moisture.

Some wooden chairs benefit from an oil treatment once or twice a year to keep the color rich and the surface smooth.

Store When Not in Use:

During colder months or long breaks, it’s better to store your chairs in a dry place. If indoor storage isn’t possible, use protective covers that allow air to flow. This keeps moisture out while avoiding mold or mildew.

Stacking them neatly or folding them properly also helps save space and protects the shape of the chairs.

Clean chairs are more inviting. They last longer, feel better, and look more stylish. With just a little attention, your pool lounge chairs stay as fresh as the day you brought them home, always ready for the next moment of rest.
